FAQs

What is TAM?
TAM is ‘The Amaz!ng Meeting’, the fundraising conference of the James Randi Educational Foundation. TAM London was the first of these conferences to be held outside the USA, and is in addition to TAM7 to be held in Las Vegas in July 2009. Previous TAM speakers have included Nobel Laureate Murray Gell-Mann, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, magicians Penn and Teller, and dozens of other noted scientists, entertainers and academics. You can expect a warm welcome from the hundreds of like-minded people who attend TAMs, from all walks of life and backgrounds but with a common interest in critical thinking.

How much did it cost?
The cost of the conference was £175 (£165 for JREF members or students - proof required on entry), this includes breakfast and lunch on the Saturday and breakfast on the Sunday, plus refreshments throughout the day, your delegate pack of 'goodies' and of course the amazing line-up speakers and lots of free, optional 'unofficial' fringe events.

Where do the profits go?
The proceeds from the main conference go to the James Randi Educational Foundation, a non-profit registered charity. JREF's aim is to promote critical thinking by reaching out to the public and media with reliable information about pseudoscientific, paranormal and supernatural ideas so widespread in our society today. TAM London proceeds support the work of James Randi, Phil Plait and the Foundation.

Will there be another TAM London?
That decision has not yet been made, but any annoucement to that effect will be made by JREF.

Are the tickets refundable?
Tickets were only refundable up to August 1st 2009, minus an administration fee of £15.00 per ticket. For other terms and conditions please see http://www.tamlondon.org/legal/

I took photos and video, can I put them online?
The terms of registration clearly stated that you could take photographs for personal use only, and that videoing any part of the talks was not permitted. You can put your photos online, but if we are alerted to any video content online then we will have it removed.
