Unofficial Event - Skeptical Pub Crawl
Locations: Old Star, 66 Broadway, St James' Park; The Coal Hole, 91 Strand; The Jeremy Bentham, University St; The Museum Tavern, Great Russell St; The John Snow, Broadwick St; The BlackFriar, 174 Queen Victoria St. near the Mermaid Conference Centre.

We’ll be scurrying around central London, seeing some of the sites that made scientific history. It’ll be a great way to meet people in London if you’re new to the city, or make new friends and acquaintances if you are not. The tour will be guided by Sid Rodrigues and London aficionado Matt Brown, Editor of The Londonist.

The tour allocation is fully booked.

Cost: Free (You'll need to bring a Zones 1-2 travelcard and drinks money)

Chance, Romance & Lucky Pants
Location: Thomas Doggett’s Bar, Doggett’s Coat & Badge, 1 Blackfriars Bridge, London

Join us for a fun and romantic evening in a great Thames-side pub with our special guests, who will be discussing love, relationships and skepticism. Professor Bruce Hood will be talking about the superstitions of dating, and Dr Petra Boynton will debunk some of the bad science surrounding sex, love and relationships. You never know, you might even meet your perfect skeptical partner! Lucky pants optional.

Cost: £2.00 per person on the door to cover our costs

Unofficial Event - Wellcome Collection
Location: Wellcome Trust

A treasure-trove of Henry Wellcome’s medical, spiritual and magical trinkets collected on his travels around the world. We’ll be treated to a closer look at the Wellcome Library’s special collections on medical quackery, and other mystical and magical thinking documents of the time.

Location: HMS Beagle Project

Dr Karen James (Director of the HMS Beagle Project) will show you what the National History Museum’s scientists get up to in the new building and what they intend to do with all the historical exhibits and samples they’ve collated over the last couple of hundred years. Not to be missed!
